Product Description

onsemi FOD8480 is a surface mount optocoupler in a 6-pin small outline plastic (SOP) package, designed for electrically isolating signal transfer in industrial and electronic systems.

This device integrates an aluminium gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) LED and a high gain photodetector with threshold hysteresis to achieve noise immunity and eliminate output signal chatter. It supports isolated interface communication to Intelligent Power Modules (IPM), transmitting digital control signals without ground loops or hazardous voltages.

The optocoupler provides a typical rise time of 15ns and fall time of 10ns, suitable for fast switching applications. It operates reliably across a wide temperature range of -40°C to 100°C, making it robust for industrial and commercial electronics environments.

With a maximum forward voltage of 0.8V and maximum input current of 20mA, the device efficiently handles input signals. The output logic is a non-inverting totem pole structure that simplifies circuit design by eliminating the need for an external pull-up resistor.
