STMicroelectronics STM8A-DISCOVERY MCU Development Kit STM8A-DISCOVERY is a dedicated development platform designed for automotive-grade STM8 8-bit microcontrollers featuring dual boards for STM8AF and STM8AL device families. This kit facilitates versatile prototyping with two boards: one with a 24MHz STM8AF5288T MCU and the other with a 16MHz STM8AL3L68T MCU. Both MCU families are AEC-Q100 qualified and stress-tested for automotive reliability.

The STM8AF board includes a 64KB Flash memory, 6KB RAM, 2KB EEPROM, 5 user LEDs, and a potentiometer connected to the MCU ADC, enabling extensive functionality for embedded development. It supports CAN and LIN automotive communication protocols. The STM8AL board offers 32KB Flash, 4KB RAM, 1KB EEPROM, 2 user LEDs, and a 4-digit 14-segment plus 4-bar LCD for display applications, alongside IDD current measurement circuitry.

Key hardware features include an on-board ST-LINK/V2 for programming and debugging, USB Mini-B socket for PC connection, and a PMIC (L99PM62GXP) with LIN and CAN bus controllers integrated. Both boards are powered via USB or an external +12V DC supply enhanced by an ST662A +12V boost converter. Extension headers provide additional connectivity for MCU peripherals and PMIC functions.
