STMicroelectronics TCPP02-M18 USB Controller is a dedicated MCU companion chip designed for USB Type C source applications, providing comprehensive protection and control to ensure safe compliance with USB-C specifications.

This device supports a power supply voltage range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V and is enclosed in a compact and low-profile QFN-18 package measuring 3.5 mm in length and 0.6 mm in height, making it ideal for dense PCB layouts.

Key features include integrated 24 V tolerant ESD protection on communication channel pins (CC), overvoltage protection against short circuits between CC and VBUS pins, an externally programmable VBUS overcurrent protection (OCP), and an integrated charge pump with a gate driver to control external N-channel MOSFETs efficiently.

The controller also provides VBUS current sensing with an analog output, active discharge on VBUS and VCONN lines, over-temperature protection, and overvoltage protection on CC lines. VCONN OCP is limited to 100 mW max with overvoltage protection up to 6 V max.

Communication is facilitated through a versatile I2C interface supporting two addresses, enabling flexible integration within system architectures. The device complies with USB-C Power Delivery Standard 3.1 for the standard power range (up to 100 W) and is ECOPACK2 compliant for environmental standards.
