Microchip MCP2558FD-H/SN is a robust CAN transceiver designed for high-speed data communication up to 8 Mbps in automotive and industrial applications. It is supplied in a compact 8-pin SOIC surface mount package ideal for space-constrained PCB layouts.
The device supports Classic CAN and CAN Flexible Data Rate (FD) protocols, optimized for flexible data rates of 2, 5, and 8 Mbps. Its Silent Mode functionality allows the node to be connected without disturbing the network, enhancing system reliability by preventing disruption due to local faults.
Designed to operate within a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, it maintains a supply current of approximately 70 mA. The transceiver is capable of withstanding automotive temperature extremes from -40°C to 150°C and complies with the automotive standard AEC-Q100, ensuring suitability for harsh automotive environments.
Additional protection features include power-on reset, voltage brown-out protection, and robust short-circuit protection against both positive and negative battery voltages. The CAN bus pins disconnect automatically when the device is unpowered, which prevents unnecessary bus loading during power-down or brown-out events.
Its VIO supply pin allows direct interface with CAN controllers and microcontrollers across a wide input/output voltage range from 1.7V to 5.5V, facilitating seamless integration in various system designs. Detection of ground faults through permanent dominant detection on the TXD line and CAN bus further enhances network stability.
Supports Classic CAN and CAN FD applications with flexible data rates. Silent Mode for nondisruptive network connection. Automotive grade AEC-Q100 compliant. Built-in short-circuit, brown-out, and power-on reset protections.
Wide supply voltage and temperature operating ranges. Automatic bus disconnection when unpowered. Compact 8-pin SOIC surface mount package. Ground fault detection to improve system reliability.
This CAN transceiver is widely used in automotive, industrial automation, and machine control systems requiring reliable, high-speed CAN communication. Explore the full range of Microchip CAN Interface ICs for advanced embedded networking solutions at EnvMart.
