PR Electronics 5202B2 2 Channel Galvanic Barrier is a high-reliability isolator designed for hazardous industrial environments requiring ATEX certification. It ensures secure and intrinsically safe transmission of pulse signals from NAMUR sensors installed in Zone 0 or Division 1 explosion hazard areas. This galvanic barrier offers 3.75 kVac isolation between input, output, and power supply to prevent electrical connection and potential ignition sources.
Developed and certified to SIL 2 standards as per IEC 61508, this device provides exemplary safety in functional safety applications. The 5202B2 model serves as both a barrier and isolator, limiting energy at sensor contacts to intrinsically safe levels, effectively preventing the ignition of flammable atmospheres even under cable or sensor failure.
The device detects cable faults and reports them through a designated output, enhancing monitoring capabilities. Operational status and fault conditions are displayed via front-mounted LEDs, facilitating easy maintenance and status verification in industrial control panels.
This galvanic barrier is suitable for mounting on standard DIN rails and supports a wide range of supply voltages from 19.2 V AC up to 300 V AC to accommodate diverse industrial power systems. Maximum safe operating temperatures range from -20°C to 60°C, ensuring reliable operation under typical industrial conditions.
Common applications include signal conditioning and isolation in automation and control systems within chemical plants, oil and gas facilities, offshore platforms, and other hazardous locations requiring compliance to ATEX and SIL safety standards. The device adheres to numerous international approvals including IECEX, FM, EAC, UL, and DNV-GL marine certification, validating its suitability for rigorous industrial environments.
Offers 3.75 kVac galvanic isolation between input, output, and power supply terminals. Certified for SIL 2 applications according to IEC 61508 standards. Supports intrinsically safe measurements in zone 0/Division 1 hazardous areas.
Detects cable errors through a dedicated output for enhanced safety. Equipped with front LEDs to indicate operational status and malfunctions. Suitable for DIN rail mounting in industrial control panels. Compatible with NAMUR sensors and contacts for pulse signal transmission.
Provides 400mA maximum safety current and supports supply voltages from 19.2 to 300 V AC.
