ams OSRAM TMF8821 is a Proximity Sensor IC designed with advanced direct time-of-flight (dToF) technology, incorporating SPAD, TDC, and histogram technology to achieve reliable distance sensing up to 5 meters. Packaged in a compact OLGA surface mount package with 12 pins, this sensor operates between 2.7 V and 3.3 V making it ideal for low-voltage industrial and commercial electronics applications.

The TMF8821 integrates a multi-lens array above the VCSEL laser diode, providing a dynamically adjustable wide field of view up to 63 degrees diagonal. Its on-chip processing capabilities output precise distance measurements and confidence values over a standard I2C interface.
