ADAFRUIT INDUSTRIES 2927 FeatherWing Add-On Board Stepper Motor is specifically engineered as an evaluation add-on board compatible with ATmega32U4, ATSAM M0, and ESP8266 Feather development boards. This high-quality motor control board adds the capability to manage stepper and brushed DC motors efficiently through the I2C communication interface, making it a versatile tool for embedded and robotics projects.
The FeatherWing platform allows stacking multiple add-on boards, with a maximum configuration supporting 64 stepper motors or 128 brushed DC motors by using up to 32 wings. This scalability suits expansive automation, robotics, and prototyping applications.
This board features four full H-Bridge motor drivers, each capable of delivering up to 1.2 A current and includes advanced thermal shutdown protection and internal kickback diodes for safe and reliable operation. Motor supply voltage support ranges from 4.5 V to 13.5 V DC, providing flexibility for various motor specifications.
Users can individually control four bi-directional brushed DC motors with 12-bit speed precision (~0.02%), or operate two unipolar or bipolar Stepper Motors with multiple stepping options including single coil, double coil, interleaved, or micro-stepping. Upon power-up, the motors are automatically disabled to ensure safety during initialization.
Connectivity is facilitated through 3.5 mm terminal block connectors suitable for 18-26 AWG wires, and a polarity-protected 2-pin terminal block and jumper allow for separate logic and motor power supplies, enhancing system design flexibility.
The physical dimensions of the board are 50.8 mm length, 22.9 mm width, and 1.6 mm thickness (2 x 0.9 x 0.06 inches), with a lightweight design weighing just 4.6 grams, ideal for compact embedded systems.
This product is manufactured in the United States, ensuring compliance with quality standards. It is ideal for industrial prototyping, educational STEM projects, robotics development, and embedded motor control systems requiring precise and flexible motor management.
Enables control of two bi-polar stepper or four brushed DC motors with I2C interface. Supports stacking up to 32 FeatherWing boards for extensive motor configurations. Four full H-Bridges with 1.2A current, thermal shutdown and kickback protections.
Motor voltage range from 4.5 V to 13.5 V DC for operational flexibility. 12-bit speed resolution for DC motors and multiple stepping modes for steppers. Automatic motor disable on power-up for safety. 3.5 mm terminal block connectors compatible with 18-26 AWG wiring.
Polarity protected 2-pin terminal block for separate motor and logic power. Compact size: 50.8 x 22.9 x 1.6 mm; very lightweight at 4.6 grams. Explore further modular motor control solutions and FeatherWing add-ons at EnvMart for your embedded system projects and industrial prototyping needs.
