Power Integrations PFS7724L is a high-efficiency Power Factor Controller designed for power management in electronic devices. It is supplied in a low-profile eSIP surface mount 16-pin package optimized for switching at 60 kHz frequency.

The PFS7724L integrates a 600 V MOSFET transistor and diode within the package, eliminating the need for external current sensing resistors and their associated power losses. Its innovative control adjusts switching frequency dynamically based on output load, input voltage, and input line cycle, ensuring high power factor and efficiency across the entire load range.

This device features a programmable Power Good signal for effective system monitoring and digital line peak detection to maintain robust performance even under distorted input voltage scenarios such as UPS or generator supplies. The digital power factor enhancer compensates for EMI filter and bridge distortions.

Protection functions include undervoltage lockout (UVLO), undervoltage (UV), overvoltage (OV), over-temperature protection (OTP), brown-in/out detection, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and power limiting to protect against overload conditions. It can withstand steady-state line voltages up to 305 VAC and can survive abnormal inputs up to 410 VAC.

The controller’s spread-spectrum switching across a bandwidth greater than 60 kHz simplifies EMI filtering requirements, reducing conducted and radiated emissions. It operates with a minimum supply voltage of 5 V and maximum supply voltage of 12 V. This makes it suitable for a wide range of power supply applications in industrial, commercial, and consumer electronics domains.
