Product Description
The onsemi FOD8173 optocoupler is a high-performance optical isolator housed in a compact 6-pin small outline plastic (SOP) package intended for surface mounting on printed circuit boards.
This optocoupler integrates an aluminum gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) LED emitter and a CMOS detector IC within the package. The detector IC includes an integrated photodiode, a high-speed transimpedance amplifier, and a voltage comparator with a totem-pole output stage, ensuring fast and reliable signal isolation.
Designed to operate over an extended industrial temperature range from -40°C to 100°C, the device provides consistent electrical and switching performance with a supply voltage range of 3 V to 5.5 V. The typical rise and fall times are 7ns, allowing data rates up to 20 Mbit/s with minimal propagation delay and pulse width distortion.
The optocoupler features a maximum forward voltage of 1.8 V at an input current of up to 20 mA.
