Microchip PAC1952T-2E/4MX is a high-precision current monitor integrated circuit housed in a compact 16-pin VQFN surface mount package. Operating from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply, it features extremely low quiescent current consumption of 5 μA, making it ideal for power-sensitive applications. The device leverages a 16-bit resolution ADC to measure voltage and current precisely, feeding digital circuitry that calculates power and accumulates energy data over extended periods, enabling energy monitoring for up to or beyond one year.
This current monitor includes a bus voltage monitor and current sense amplifier, allowing external sense resistor configuration to set the full-scale current range with a 100 mV sense voltage range. With a 30-bit on-chip accumulation register, it can provide highly accurate energy measurements and power monitoring, with an accuracy of approximately 1% over a wide dynamic range.
Additional device features include two independent ALERT/GPIO pins that signal when user-defined thresholds for voltage, current, or power are exceeded. Its wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 150°C and surface mount package make it suitable for harsh industrial environments.
The PAC1952T-2E/4MX is designed for applications including embedded computing platforms, networking equipment, high-performance computing such as AI and GPU servers, notebooks, tablets, cloud server infrastructures, and optical networking modules. The robust digital calibration minimizes offset error, requiring no input filters.
