Product Description
The FTDI Chip FT4233HPQ-TRAY is a versatile Controller IC designed for high-speed USB applications, providing four independent USB channels capable of data rates up to 12 Mbps. Featuring a 76-pin QFN surface-mount package with a compact height of 1 mm and length of 8.85 mm, this device integrates support for USB Type-C and USB 2.0 standards allowing implementation in modern USB interface designs.
This controller incorporates USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 specifications with full support for power negotiation between devices. It can operate as both sink and source, supporting multiple PDOs including 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, and 20V at up to 3A, facilitating efficient power management in USB systems. The device features a built-in PD policy engine based on a 32-bit RISC microcontroller with 8 kB RAM and 48 kB ROM, enabling configurable USB PD profiles via external EEPROM or an external MCU through I2C interface.
The four USB transceivers allow multiplexing of UART and other interfaces, making it suitable for multi-function USB bridge applications. The IC supports hot-swap capabilities, dual-role power functionality, and advanced power management features required in industrial, laboratory, commercial, and telecommunications environments.
