STMicroelectronics STEVAL-ILL020V1 is a high-performance LED Demonstration Board based on the LED7706 LED Driver. This kit enables evaluation and development for LED arrays used in LCD backlight applications, providing precise control and reliability.

The board integrates a high efficiency monolithic boost converter and six programmable current generators designed to deliver stable current to LED strings. It supports output voltages up to 36 V, capable of driving up to ten white LEDs per row with sink current programmable up to 30 mA. PWM dimming at frequencies up to 20 kHz with a 1% duty cycle allows fine brightness control.

Robust diagnostic features detect open or shorted LEDs and manage unused LED rows by allowing them to float, enhancing reliability and maintenance ease. Fundamental protection mechanisms against output overvoltage, internal MOSFET overcurrent, and thermal shutdown are included to safeguard the device.
