Product Description

Vishay's VEML6040A3OG is an advanced ambient light spectral sensor designed to measure red, green, blue, and white light components with high accuracy and spectral sensitivity closely matched to the human eye responses. Featuring a compact 4-pin surface mount OPLGA package measuring 2.0 mm by 1.25 mm by 1.0 mm, this sensor integrates photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog/digital circuits on a CMOS chip for enhanced reliability and performance.

Utilizing proprietary FiltronTM technology, the sensor achieves precise ambient light spectral sensitivity with a peak wavelength at 650 nm. The VEML6040A3OG offers selectable maximum detection ranges from 515.4 lux up to 16,496 lux, coupled with 16-bit resolution on each RGBW channel, enabling highly detailed color and brightness assessment. Low power consumption of 200 μA and an operating voltage range from 2.5 V to 3.6 V make it suitable for battery-powered and compact devices.

This device includes excellent temperature compensation capability, maintaining stable output from an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. Its I2C communication interface (SMBus compatible) simplifies integration into diverse platforms.
