Product Description

Microchip MCP2221A-I/ML is a USB-to-UART/I2C serial converter designed to provide USB connectivity for devices with UART and I2C interfaces. This USB 2.0 full-speed controller supports data rates up to 12 Mbps and operates from a supply voltage ranging between 3 V and 5.5 V. Packaged in a compact 16-pin QFN form factor, it integrates essential USB components like termination resistors and an oscillator which minimizes the need for external parts.

The MCP2221A series features a 128-byte FIFO buffer split equally between transmit and receive buffers, facilitating seamless communication at any UART or I2C baud rate. Additionally, it includes four versatile general-purpose pins configurable for GPIO, USB functions (USBCFG, SSPND), clock output, ADC, DAC, and interrupt detection.

This device is suitable for industrial, automotive, and embedded applications requiring reliable USB communication. It complies with the AEC-Q100 automotive standard and incorporates ESD protection.
