Microchip RN42HID-I/RM Bluetooth Chip 2.1 is a Class 2 Bluetooth transceiver module pre-programmed with an extended Human Interface Device (HID) profile. It enables development of wireless products such as game controllers, keyboards, mice, and other pointing devices. The module enhances the basic HID capability by allowing control and programmability for devices such as Apple iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

This Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR module operates in the 2.402 to 2.480 GHz frequency range with 79 channels and modulation using GFSK with FHSS for reliable data transmission. It offers a maximum RF output power of +4dBm and features a receiver sensitivity of -86dBm, ensuring robust wireless connectivity.

The RN42HID-I/RM module communicates through a serial UART interface with RTS/CTS flow control and provides sustained Serial Port Profile (SPP) data rates of 240 kbps for slave and 300 kbps for master configurations. Its embedded Bluetooth stack supports multiple protocols including GAP, SDP, RFCOMM, and L2CAP, along with SPP and HID profiles.

Designed for flexibility, it offers three modes of operation: Presenter Mode for controlling presentation software like Microsoft PowerPoint, Custom Mode for programming pushbuttons to send key stroke sequences, and Music Mode to control music player functions such as play, pause, track switching, and volume adjustment.

Operating voltage ranges from 3.0 to 3.6 V DC, with an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. The compact PCB module measures 25.8 mm in length, 13.4 mm in width, and 2 mm in height, integrating a PCB antenna for wireless communication.
