4D Systems MOTG-MP3 Add-On Module for gen4 LCD Displays is an advanced display interface kit that expands the functionality of gen4 LCD modules by enabling audio playback capabilities. Designed with the integrated 4D Systems SOMO-II sound module, it offers high-quality 16-bit audio decoding for MP3 files stored on a microSD card inserted into the module's onboard slot.

The module provides a mono amplified 3W, 3 Ohm speaker output that can drive external speakers or stereo headphones, as well as connect to external amplifiers. It supports a range of MP3 bit rates compliant with standards 11172-3 and ISO1381303, sampling audio from 8 kHz up to 48 kHz with a 24-bit DAC audio output, ensuring clear and robust sound suitable for industrial and laboratory display applications.

This add-on module connects via a universal MOTG interface (UMI) UART interface operating at 3.3 V or 5 V TTL, enabling simple plug and play installation onto existing MOTG interface boards such as AC1, AC2, and AC3.
