RS PRO 125-4344 Silver Polylactic Acid (PLA) 3D Printer Filament is a high-quality material designed for use with common desktop Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) technology 3D printers. This filament has a diameter of 2.85 mm and weighs 2.3 kg, making it suitable for a broad range of 3D printing applications.
PLA is derived from renewable natural resources such as corn and sugar cane, making it an environmentally friendly choice compared to traditional petroleum-based plastics. This RS PRO PLA filament is toughened and less brittle, ensuring that finished prints maintain durability and structural integrity.
The filament is easy to print at low temperatures ranging from 180°C to 210°C and requires no heated print bed, although a heated bed set between 35°C and 60°C can help reduce warping further. Its low shrinkage factor means minimal deformation after cooling, producing precise and dimensionally accurate prints.
Proper storage of the filament is critical. It should be kept in a cool and dry environment (15-25°C) away from UV light to prevent moisture absorption which can cause bubbling during extrusion, spoiling print quality. Using desiccant dehumidifiers is recommended to maintain filament quality over time.
Made from renewable natural resources. Compatible with common desktop FDM 3D printers. Prints at 180°C to 210°C with low warping. Improved toughness compared to typical PLA. Limited odor during printing process. Requires proper storage to prevent moisture damage.
Wide range of industrial and hobbyist applications.
This filament is extensively used in prototyping, hobbyist manufacturing, medical modeling, educational projects, jewellery design, architectural model making, as well as aviation, engineering, and automotive component manufacturing.
