Loctite LOCTITE® 648 is a green high strength retaining compound in liquid form, delivering excellent bonding performance for cylindrical fitting parts in industrial and mechanical applications. It cures when confined between closely fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air, preventing loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration.

This urethane methacrylate-based compound is formulated for outstanding high-temperature resistance, rated for continuous usage up to 175°C and operating from -55°C. It demonstrates strong adhesion on both active metals like mild steel and passive substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. The product tolerates minor contamination from oils commonly found in machining and protection processes, including cutting, lubrication, and anti-corrosion fluids.

The compound features a cure time ranging from 3 to 6 hours and fills gaps of up to 0.15 mm diametrical clearance. Its low viscosity allows it to flow into tight spaces while providing fluorescent properties for inspection ease. Handling strength is achieved rapidly within 5 minutes, enabling faster assembly processes.
