Microchip BM71 Communication & Wireless Development Tool BM71 Xplained PRO is engineered to add Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capability to XPRO development tools operating at a 2.4 GHz maximum frequency. This board functions as an extension compatible with popular SAMx and AVRx XPRO boards or independently for standalone projects.
The development tool supports seamless integration with Atmel Studio, providing example code through ASF3 for accelerated development cycles. It incorporates a BM71 Bluetooth Low Energy module as its featured device, ensuring robust BLE connectivity.
The unit is equipped with a USB-UART Bridge (MCP2200) facilitating host PC communication and includes a 3.3V Low Dropout (LDO) regulator for stable power management. Firmware images can be stored and updated via SPI flash memory, supporting Device Firmware Upgrade Over The Air (DFU OTA) functionality.
Additional features include multiple switches for mode selection, LED control for current measurement, GPIO management, and a reset push button. Passive RC filters are incorporated to condition PWM and ADC inputs, enhancing signal integrity.
Two power sources are supported through Micro USB and XPRO connectors, offering flexibility in power options. The board includes an XPRO extension header and header pins dedicated to current measurement, optimizing diagnostic and monitoring capabilities during development.
This Bluetooth Low Energy development tool is highly suitable for embedded system developers, IoT device prototyping, and wireless communication applications in industrial, laboratory, and commercial environments.
