Digital Analytical balances are used to measure mass or weight. They have been around for hundreds of years. This simple type of balance has two pans - one pan is called the weighing pan and the second pan is called the balancing pan. The weighing pan is placed on top of the balancing pan. A weight can then be put into the weighing pan. When the weights are removed, the difference between the weights will show up as an imbalance.
