Bending of Beam Apparatus for Laboratory

Comprising a metal bar of 100 cm long and 25 mm wide is supported on two G-clamps fitted with knife-edges. A third knife edge, with hanger, moves on the metal bar and a spherometer fitted on a cast iron stand fitted with terminal for electric contacts. On applying load the deflection in the beam is measured by turning the screw of the spherometer. Supplied without slotted weight set. This apparatus is used to measure the Young's modulus of bar. Young's modulus is a measure of stiffness of an elastic material and is a quantity used to characterize materials.
