Melting point apparatus is used to measure melting points of metals and alloys. The melting point apparatus consists of a furnace which can be heated up to 1000 degrees Celsius or more. A thermocouple is inserted into the sample to monitor its temperature. When the sample reaches the desired temperature, it is removed from the furnace and cooled down slowly. The time taken for the sample to reach the desired temperature is recorded as the melting point of the sample.
