The instrument can measure the volume or concentration of gases or vapors at various temperatures and pressures. The measurement is performed by taking samples from a container filled with the sample fluid or vapors and then exposing them to a light beam through an optical cell formed by two mirrors. The light beam reflects back into the cell, which measures how much light is reflected back compared to what entered into it while passing through sample fluid or vapor molecules in motion (gas-to-infrared conversion).
