MNT Enviro Tech Ultrasonic Water Flow Meter (Display-Digital) operates by alternately transmitting and receiving a burst of ultrasound between the two transducers by measuring the transit time that it takes for sound to travel between the two transducers in both directions. Ultrasonic meters measure the velocity of a fluid flowing through a pipe in one of two ways: transit time or Doppler technology. Transit time technology measures the time differential between signals sent upstream and downstream. The differential is directly proportional to the velocity of the water. Ultrasonic flowmeters are commonly applied to measure the velocity of liquids that allow ultrasonic waves to pass, such as water, molten sulfur, cryogenic liquids, and chemicals. Transit time designs are also available to measure gas and vapor flow.
