The ALP-1 is best suitable for testing homogeneous materials. For accurate & better results, the thickness of the material should be a minimum of 1 mm thick & minimum of 3 mm distance should be kept from the edge of the specimen while taking the readings. The testing surface should be smooth. For testing the surface, simply exert a light pressure against the machine, so that the spring-loaded indenter will penetrate into the material.
