Product Description

FTDI Chip DB9-USB-F is a high-speed converter module designed for embedded development and electronics laboratories that require upgrading RS232 serial ports to USB 2.0 interfaces without PCB redesign.

This active converter module incorporates the FTDI FT232R chipset and fits into a standard female DB9 RS232 footprint, providing USB to serial UART translation with support for multiple UART signal levels (RS232, 3.3V, 5V).

It supports USB 1.1 and 2.0 hosts and hubs, providing broad compatibility with modern systems. Certified drivers for platforms including Microsoft Windows (WHQL certified), Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows CE enable easy deployment in diverse environments.

Interface signals supported include transmit (TxD), receive (RxD), and various control signals (RTS, CTS, DSR, DTR, DCD, RI, GND), powered solely by the USB bus, eliminating the need for external power supplies.
