Microchip MCP73X23EV-LFP Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Charger Evaluation Board is a Power Management Development Kit designed to evaluate the features of MCP73123 and MCP73223 LiFePO4 battery charge management controllers. It incorporates input overvoltage protection, charge regulation voltages tailored for lithium iron phosphate cells, and robust safety timers to ensure reliable battery charging.
This evaluation board supports two devices with distinct input overvoltage protection limits: +6.5V for MCP73123 and +13V for MCP73223. Charge regulation voltages are set correspondingly at +3.6V and +7.2V, providing precise control for efficient battery charging.
The board includes a 10% preconditioning stage for deeply depleted cells with a 32-minute timer, enhancing cell recovery. It also integrates a 6-hour safety timer and 10% automatic charge termination to safeguard battery health and prevent overcharging.
Fast charge current presets of 500mA and 1000mA enable flexible charging options along with automatic recharge functionality for ease of use. Thermal regulation ensures optimal temperature management during charging cycles.
