Product Description
STMicroelectronics STEVAL-ISV019V1 is an Evaluation Board based on the SPV1050 ultra low power (ULP) energy harvester and battery charger featuring embedded Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and Low Dropout (LDO) regulators. This evaluation kit is designed to achieve optimal efficiency in harvesting energy from photovoltaic (PV) panels and seamlessly charging lithium-ion batteries.
The board effectively implements an MPPT DC-DC converter configuration for maximizing energy extraction. It is optimized to work with PV panels that supply input voltages ranging from 0.5V to 2.5V and input currents from 30μA up to 20mA, making it suitable for low power energy harvesting applications. It allows battery charging with protection thresholds set at 3.7V for under-voltage and 4.2V for end of charge, ensuring battery safety and longevity.
This evaluation kit supports flexible operation for different types of photovoltaic panels and batteries with only a few changes to the application components on the board. It supports a first startup with just 500mV input voltage and has an operating voltage range from 150mV to 4.25V input, allowing it to function efficiently even with low input power sources.
The MPPT capability provides maximum efficiency in converting solar energy to electrical power. Battery under-voltage and end-of-charge thresholds maintain battery health in charging cycles. Designed for energy harvesting applications in commercial, industrial, and academic research.
Ideal for use in power, motor, and robotics development tools environments. The evaluation board supports energy harvesting in Internet of Things (IoT) and wireless sensor networks requiring ultra low power supply.
This evaluation board enables developers and engineers to prototype and test energy harvesting systems efficiently, aiding in the advancement of renewable energy applications and low power electronics projects.
