The MikroElektronika MIKROE-1839 RTC3 Real Time Clock MikroBus Click Board is designed as an add-on development tool to provide accurate real-time clock functions for target microcontroller boards equipped with mikroBUS sockets. Based on the Texas Instruments BQ32000 Real-Time Clock, this module offers comprehensive timekeeping capabilities including seconds, minutes, hours, century, days, day of the week, months, and years.
The RTC3 click includes a programmable alarm output and automatic switchover to a backup supply, supported by a built-in trickle charger to maintain the backup capacitor. This ensures reliability in applications requiring continuous timekeeping even during main power interruptions.
Featuring a 32.768 kHz crystal oscillator with an adjustable frequency range of -63 to +126 ppm, the board maintains precise timing. It incorporates oscillator-fail detection and an oscillator stop option that can be set via register control, enhancing its robustness for industrial, laboratory, and embedded system development. Automatic leap-year compensation further improves long-term calendar accuracy.
The board communicates through the I²C interface provided by the mikroBUS socket and operates on a 3.3 V power supply standard, making it suitable for integration with various microcontroller platforms like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and other embedded systems.
