GHG Inventory – Scope 2

What is the service: Calculation of indirect greenhouse gas emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2).

Who needs it: Organizations measuring carbon footprint.

Scope of service: We calculate emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling consumed by your organization. We apply both location-based (grid average) and market-based (if you have renewable energy certificates or PPAs) methods as per the GHG Protocol to provide a dual view of your Scope 2 emissions, which is critical for reporting and reduction strategies.

Process flow: Collection of purchased energy consumption data (electricity bills in kWh, steam in tons) → Application of location-based grid emission factors (kg CO2e/kWh) → Application of market-based emission factors if renewable energy instruments are claimed → Calculation of Scope 2 emissions using both methods → Reporting of the dual results in the inventory.
