STMicroelectronics ST25R3911B-DISCO is a ready-to-use communication and wireless development kit integrating the ST25R3911B, a highly integrated high-frequency (HF) reader and NFC initiator microcontroller (MCU) IC. This discovery kit supports multiple contactless communication standards making it suitable for diverse industrial and commercial applications involving NFC and RFID technologies.

The ST25R3911B-DISCO can operate as an active and passive initiator following the ISO18092 (NFCIP-1) standard, and also as an active target. It supports ISO 14443A and B readers including very high bit rates (VHBR) for fast data communication and enhanced performance. The kit also supports long range ISO15693 and FeliCa™ reader modes, expanding its compatibility with multiple protocols.

Implementation of additional standard and custom protocols such as MIFARE™ Classic is feasible by utilizing the analog front end (AFE) and framing functions managed by an external microcontroller in stream and transparent modes. The kit delivers up to 1.4 W output power through a differential antenna design and can drive two antennas in single-ended mode to support varied antenna configurations.

Additional features include inductive and capacitive wake-up capabilities to optimize power consumption and user convenience, an automatic antenna tuning system to maintain optimal antenna performance, dynamic power output to adjust output power on the fly, and both user selectable and automatic gain control for signal quality management.
