MNT Enviro Tech Online Effluent Monitoring System is the collection and analysis of samples or measurements of liquid and gaseous effluents to determine and quantify contaminants and process-stream characteristics, assess any chemical or radiological exposures to members of the public, and demonstrate compliance with applicable standards. It is typically based on a series of water treatment facilities in which all the wastewater collected from water-using operations is combined and treated as a single effluent stream. This centralised approach treats wastewater collectively in sequence. The major aim of wastewater treatment is to remove as much of the suspended solids as possible before the remaining water, called effluent, is discharged back to the environment. As solid material decays, it uses up oxygen, which is needed by the plants and animals living in the water.
