Effluent treatment system is used to treat wastewater before it is released into the environment. The effluent treatment system consists of an aeration tank, clarifier, grit chamber, sludge hopper, and sludge pump. The aeration tank provides oxygen for microorganisms to break down organic matter in the waste water. The clarifier separates solids from liquid. The grit chamber removes large particles from the effluent. The sludge hopper collects the solid waste and pumps it out of the system. The sludge pump pushes the sludge through pipes to a disposal site or back to the aeration tank.
