Conventional clarification systems require significantly more space to match the settling capacity of a Lamella Gravity Settler. The inclined plate design of the Lamella unit provides a much larger effective settling area because each plate’s surface is projected horizontally. This allows up to ten square feet of settling area for every square foot of physical space occupied, enabling faster settling in a fraction of the area. Standard loading rates used for conventional settlers can be applied to Lamella Settlers by substituting the projected plate area for the conventional clarifier’s surface area.
